Now, for those of you unfamiliar with the Wish Lemons Run, this is an event that has attracted hundreds of runners from across the state of Oklahoma for the last eleven years.  Named in honor of First United Methodist Church’s former minister of missions, Rev. Wish Lemons, the run was created and put on by the Builders Sunday School class, with all proceeds going to missions projects here in Tulsa and abroad.  Wish and his wife Wanda, who have been avid runners in the Tulsa community for many decades, still participate in the run and are an inspiration to old and young alike. 

The run continues under the leadership of the Youth and Family Center (YFC). We hope to have a fabulous 5k and Fun Run/Dog walk that promotes and fosters active healthy lives in the Tulsa community. The run has a long standing tradition of raising funds for missions. This tradition will continue in 2012 by using the proceeds to give back to the local community through the ministry of the YFC.  Many local community programs for children, youth, and adults take place at the YFC. The YFC strives to serve the community through healthy, active programs for all ages. Wish Lemons lives by the unique motto, “gotta keep movin’” and the YFC helps individuals of all ages live out Wish’s motto on a daily basis.
